2008 OHIO BEADER RETREAT CLASSES
Payments for classes are to be mailed directly to the instructors. You are not registered for the class until the instructor receives your payment in full. Please do not ask the instructor if you can pay them at the retreat. They need to buy supplies, have copies made and prepare for the class. It is not fair to ask them to wait for their payment. They are offering these classes at far below what you would pay to take them at a bead shop or bead show.

Sea Cucumber Pendant & Earrings Set
Saturday Morning Class Type of beadwork: Flat Peyote Skill level: This is an intermediate peyote class. The ruffle can be a bit frustrating to inexperienced beaders, so I would suggest only those with patience and some experience take it Previous skills needed: Students MUST have experience with peyote beading. All pieces are flat; there is no circular peyote in this project, despite what it looks like. Deadline for Registration and Payment: September 2nd, the day after Labor Day
Supply List: Two colors of Japanese round 11/0 seed beads; one contrasting color 15/0 seed beads; 16 8/0 triangle or hex seed beads for earrings, and additional (approx. 24 or so) for pendant; one color coordinating delica for pendant base; five 8mm Swarovski rounds; three 3” headpins; three silver bead caps or beads to coordinate with Swarovski; one base bead (I’ll supply); one pair of leverback ear wires; beading thread and basic supplies. The two colors of Japanese rounds should be different enough in color that the student can tell them apart when beading the ruffle. This is important, as it makes the beading easier and less confusing. The 15/0 seed bead should contrast enough from the two 11/0 colors so that the edge of the ruffle can stand out. No sense doing all that beading without highlighting the difficult part. A third color of Japanese round 11/0 can be used in addition to the other two colors for the branch coral fringe, and 4mm Swarovskis can be added to the fringe for those who like a lot of flash. The written instructions will cover the earrings and the pendant, but they cannot be completed totally during the class. There is a special way I made the ruffled earrings and a technique I developed for the ruffle on the pendant.
